Brodhead grads make waves at NCAA D3 Indoor Championships

ROCHESTER, NY — Two recent Brodhead High School graduates participated in the NCAA Division 3 National Track and Field Indoor Championships March 14-15 in Rochester, New York. 

Madelynn McIntyre, 2021 Brodhead grad and senior at UW-La Crosse, and Kalena Riemer, 2024 Brodhead grad and freshman at Washington University (WashU) in St. Louis, contributed to their teams success on the national stage. 

McIntyre ran in a strong 5,000-meter run field and finished 15th with a time of 17:21.02. 

Riemer raced the 800-meter leg in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR). The Distance Medley consists of athletes running 1,200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,600-meter. The WashU ladies raced hard and finished sixth in a strong field. 

Riemer earned All-American honors and an individual trophy. She ran the 800-meter split in 2:15.14 with a total relay time of 11:49.82. They earned three points for WashU. 

WashU finished second overall with 45.5 points, just 3.5 points behind first place MIT. UW-La Crosse finished third overall in the championships with 37 points.
