DEFOREST — Monroe-New Glarus opened the fall swimming season at the annual Norski Invite on Saturday, August 22. Eight teams were involved in the meet, which split up teams three different ways.

“This meet is formatted a little bit differently,” said coach Rachel Root. “The fastest entry will be placed in Heat 3, or the “Blue” Division, the second-fastest entry will be in Heat 2, or the “Red” Division, and the third-fastest entry will be in Heat 1, or the “White” Division. With a smaller team, we did not always have swimmers represented in every division.”

Hadleigh Shunk was second in the 500-yard freestyle Blue Division with a time of 5:48.78, about 14 seconds behind winner Sophia Oleksy of McFarland. She was also fifth in the 100-yard blue breastroke (1:17.27).

Middleton won both the Red and White brackets, while Oregon won the Blue bracket.

The team swims again on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Sauk Prairie Relays.
