Monroe Police, Fire and Public Works departments, along with the Wisconsin DNR, all responded to the intersection of 8th Street and South Wis. 69 on Monday after a large oil spill occurred. About 250 gallons of oil spilled out from the back of a pickup truck on the southbound lanes, then flowed downhill and then west into the eastbound lanes of 8th Street. The spill shut down lanes of traffic for much of the afternoon.
