Joanne Monson, 89, died at home with family by her side on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024. She was born May 14, 1935, in Lafayette County, WI, to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Burris) Cavanaugh. She graduated from Darlington High School. On Jun. 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert O. Monson in Darlington, WI. She worked for the USDA ASCA for 34 years.

Joanne was a faithful member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and was very involved in the church including with Meal on Wheels. Faith, family and friends were her life.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert Monson; 3 sons Randy Monson, Bruce (Lynn) Monson, and Kevin Monson; grandchildren: Eric (Kara) Monson, Abbey (Matt) Husen, Max (Rachael) Monson, Lisa (Rich) Pember, Corey (Jenny) Larsen, Michael Mansell, and Melissa (Brad) Hanthorn; great grandchildren: Kyla, Luke, Amaya, Aiden, Addison, Austin, Alice, Anna, Alex, Mia, Jack, Elena , Atlas, Xadius, and Vinnie; great great grandchildren: Nia, Elijah, and Isaiah; sister Margaret Zimmerman; sister-in-law Joanie Cavanaugh; nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; daughter-in-law Sue Monson; and siblings: Lawrence Cavanaugh Jr, Mary Johnson, Kathryn Larson, David Cavanaugh, and Melvin Cavanaugh.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at NATIVITY OF MARY PARISH, 313 E Wall St, Janesville. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 AM until time of Mass at CHURCH. Entombment will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park and Mausoleum. Memorials are appreciated to Nativity of Mary Parish. APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, Janesville is assisting the family.
