STOCKTON — The Stockton Heritage Museum will host The History of Derinda Township on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.

Derinda Township is one of the 23 townships located in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Established in 1853, the township is tucked away in the scenic, unglaciated “Driftless Area” of northwest Illinois, characterized by rolling hills, rocky terrains, and heavy timberland.

From the original stagecoach stop in early Derinda to the more recent history of Derinda Centre and Massbach, as remembered by many of our current residents — join us for a look back at this community’s story. The program will also include a brief look at the township’s churches, cemeteries, and schools.

Richard Groezinger, a lifelong resident, will share family stories and historical details passed down from his parents and grandparents.
