TOWN OF CADIZ — A fatal two-vehicle crash on Tuesday is Green County’s sixth traffic fatality of 2026.

According to the Green County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:38 p.m., there was a report of a motor vehicle crash in the W8300 block of Wis. 11 in the Town of Cadiz. Deputies, along with Green County EMS, Browntown Fire Department, South Wayne Fire Department, and Monroe Police Department responded to the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a van was traveling westbound on Wis. 11 and an SUV traveling eastbound on Wis. 11 when they collided head on. The driver of the SUV was identified as a 23-year-old woman from Platteville. The woman was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the van was identified as a 56-year-old man who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. Seatbelt usage for both drivers is unknown at this time and the airbags of both vehicles deployed. Both vehicles sustained significant overall damage and were towed from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
