Gilma M. Ott, age 94 of Monticello passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Community Living Home Options in Monroe.  She was born on September 3, 1929 the daughter of Gilman and Bessie (Johnson) Severson.  Gilma grew up on a farm in rural Mount Horeb and attended country schools.  On May 25, 1957 she was united in marriage to Delbert Ott at York Lutheran Church.  First and foremost, Gilma was a mother and homemaker, she also worked for thirty-three years at Monroe Cheese Corp in Monticello.  She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.  Gilma always had a love of animals while growing up on the farm all of the animals on the farm became her pets.  She was also an accomplished seamstress sewing clothes and prom dresses for her family.  In the kitchen she would make many delicious Norwegian and Swiss dishes and canned the bounty produced from the garden.  Gilma was also a loving grandmother and loved her grandchildren.

Gilma is survived by her children Carolyn (Jeff) Babler, Wayne (Sherrie) Ott, David Ott, and Sharon (Robert) Huettl, grandchildren Shaun Karlen, McKaylah (fiancé Brian Adams) Hilliard, Riley (fiancé Samuel Sharer) Hilliard, Lexie Babler, and Nettie Babler, great-granddaughter Keaton Karlen, and another great-grandchild on the way.  She is further survived by a sister Gladys (Dick) Blum.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Delbert.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ 18 Fifth Ave., with Petra Streiff officiating.  Burial will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI.

A visitation will precede the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, New Glarus, WI.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.

A memorial fund has been established.
