Monticello students build kayak launch for Lake Montesian
Kayak Landing
Monticello students Caleb Hesier, Kayleb Knutdson, Kole McCutchin, Kayden Teasdale, Alex Graham and Levi Truttmann created a kayak landing for Lake Montesian in Tyler Theden’s construction class. With the help of the Lion’s Club and Monticello Public Works, the launch was installed June 19.

MONTICELLO — A project that spanned many months was completed June 19, as Lake Montesian got a new kayak landing.

With help from the Lion’s Club and member Linn Lederman, Technology Education teacher Tyler Theden presented the idea for a kayak landing to his construction class.

The students — Caleb Hesier, Kayleb Knutdson, Kole McCutchin, Kayden Teasdale, Alex Graham and Levi Truttmann — then researched appropriate material and how to get the landing to float before creating a final design and blueprint.

The Monticello Lion’s Club paid for all materials and assisted in the installation. Those involved in the project included public workers Brian Grossen, Kevin Komprood and Shawn Johnson, Monticello employees Gret Titus, John Babler, John Blumer, Mark Olson and Paul Burk, and Lion’s Club memebrs Lederman, Jim Gempler, Mike Klassy and Mike Davis.

The kayak landing is just one of several projects to Lake Montesian, which also got a new bridge installed this summer.
