JANESVILLE — The Monroe Cheesemakers are celebrating their third straight RVC-Valley golf title after competing in the Rock Valley Conference tournament at the Riverside Golf Course in Janesville on Wednesday, May 20.
As a team, the Cheesemakers shot a 324, which placed them fifth in the 11-team Rock Valley field. Monroe was the top team among Valley Division schools, earning the Valley Division title for the third year in a row.
Edgerton won the conference championship with a 294. The Brodhead Cardinals shot a 422 for an 11th-place finish.
For the Cheesemakers, senior Brock Brandli placed ninth overall with a 78. Senior Brody Koehn tied for 10th with a 79. Junior Troy Spotts shot an 82. Senior Hans Brandt fired an 85. Senior Brady Stuart carded a 94.
The top golfer for Brodhead was junior Josiah Blum (94), followed by junior Avery Rufer (96), junior Wyatt Keyser (104) and sophomore Aiden Arn (128).
Monroe, Brodhead, New Glarus and Monticello-Belleville will participate in the Division 2 regional at Monroe Golf Club on Tuesday, May 26. The sectional is on June 2 at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus.
SWAL Conference Championship
NEW GLARUS — The Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus was the host of the SWAL Conference golf championship on Tuesday, May 19. Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern won the team championship with a 313. The Medalist was senior Drew Aschilman of Mineral Point with a 71. Finishing second was junior Avari Steiner of Argyle-Pecatonica, who was three strokes behind with a 74.
Darlington placed fourth (364) and Argyle-Pecatonica was fifth (366).
Individually for Darlington, sophomore Tavin Brunkow was 10th overall with an 86. Junior Kaleb King and senior Alex Fox both recorded a 90. Senior Blaze White carded a 94 and senior Broker Buschor fired a 97.
For Argyle-Pecatonica, junior Blake Ferrell shot a 92, senior Cohlman Schlimgen and senior Caleb Mckenna each finished with a 100, and sophomore Tucker Bethke had a 106.
Darlington and Argyle-Pecatonica will be competing in the Division 3 Regional at Deer Valley Golf Course in Barneveld on Tuesday, May 26.
Capitol Conference Championship
COTTAGE GROVE — The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove hosted the Capitol Conference Golf Championship on Tuesday, May 19 with Cambridge winning the title with a 324.
New Glarus finished seventh (362) on the day, and in sixth place in the conference standings. Monticello-Belleville was eighth (451).
For New Glarus, senior Isaac Ingwell led the Glarner Knights with an 84 and finished 17th overall. Junior Kofi Belknap had a 91, sophomore Kellen Martinson was next with a 92, senior Grady Johnson shot a 95, and freshman Braden Goodness had a 96.
For Monticello-Belleville, senior Caleb Heiser shot a 93, senior Cooper Nemec finished with a 101, junior Raife Jurrens shot a 124, and sophomore Daniel Tuck got a 133.
