Doris Faye Schliem, age 88, of South Wayne died Saturday, May 23, 2026. She was born to Wilfred and Ilah (Jackson) Johnson on February 28, 1938 in Wiota. She attended Hawley Grade School, and Darlington High School. On June 12, 1955 she married Dale L. Schliem at Apple Grove Lutheran Church, together they raised five children.
Doris lived in Wiota Township her entire life. She worked at Rossing’s in Argyle, JC Penney in Monroe, Shopko in Monroe; she also drove school bus for Argyle and Black Hawk Schools, and Corsicana Inn in Corsicana, TX.
She was a longtime member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church and the WELCA, Tri Town Homemakers, and the PTA at both Argyle and Black Hawk Schools. Doris loved anytime spent with her family, especially cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and taking trips.
Doris is survived by her children, Pamela (Mike) Rosebrook, Dennis (Laurel) Schliem, Daryl (Karri) Schliem, Randy (Janet) Schliem, and Timothy (Jodi) Schliem; International Fellowship Student, Gerardo Garcia Bartning and family; as well as 14 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 9 step-great-grandchildren and bonus triplet great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale (2021); sisters, Irene Johnson, Alice Wang, Carol Schliem; and one step-grandson, Christopher Rosebrook.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Wiota Lutheran Church with Pastor Dan Bohlman officiating. Burial will follow at Apple Grove Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the church following the services.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the church; continued visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
