Ivan J. Gobeli, age 91 of Monroe passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on November 18, 1934 the son of John and Melvia (Kline) Gobeli. Ivan graduated from Monroe High School in 1952. From 1955-1957 Ivan proudly served in the United States Army. On January 2, 1955 Ivan married Marlene Keller in Monroe.
Ivan became a Licensed Cheesemaker in 1957; later becoming the owner and operator of Franklin Cheese Co. from 1962 until 2003. He was a member of the Cheesemakers Association, National Cheesemakers Association, Pheasants Forever; and the Monroe Arts Center. In his free time Ivan enjoyed raising birds and growing flowers.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marlene Gobeli of Monroe; children, Steven (Janet) Gobeli of Monroe, Tom (Katie) Gobeli of Northfield, IL, Scott (Jane) Gobeli of Hobart, IN, and Jolene (Jay) Hunger of Wausau; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, James Gobeli of Lynxville, WI; and sisters-in-law, Sandy and Nellie Gobeli.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wendell, Walt, and John Gobeli; sister, Wanda Kline; and sister-in-law, Judy Gobeli.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shgfuneralhome.net.
