EAST TROY — The Monroe Cheesemakers crushed the Delavan-Darien Comets not once, but twice in a Rock Valley conference doubleheader on Thursday, May 14. The Cheesemakers blanked the Comets 14-0 in five innings in the first game of the doubleheader, then pummeled Delavan-Darien 24-0 in a game shortened to three innings in the nightcap.
In the first game, Monroe got a 5-0 lead after two innings, then unloaded for nine runs in the third inning to complete all the scoring. Paulson pitched five innings and allowed no runs on three hits and struck out 10 batters.
Kaegann Paulson and Ivie Ellenson each had a double and three RBIs and Jayde Hawkinson and Maddie Rueggsegger both drove in two runs in the Cheesemakers’ first lopsided win of the day.
The second game of the doubleheader was even more lopsided as Monroe opened the game by scoring 15 runs in the first inning. The top half of the first inning for the Cheesemakers featured 21 batters, 16 hits (including back-to-back triples), four hit batters, and one error.
Jayde Hawkinson went 3x5 with five RBIs. Jade Tran was 3x3 with three RBIs and Kaegann Paulson collected three hits in three at-bats and drove in two runs.
Paulson did not allow a hit and struck out five of the nine batters she faced in getting recording the three-inning perfect game.
Monroe (16-8, 8-6 RVC-Valley) played a nonconference game at Mukwonago on Friday, May 15.
Brodhead 10, Edgerton 0
Mady Henning and Natalie Pierce slugged home runs and the Brodhead Cardinals piled up 12 hits to beat the Edgerton Tiders 10-0 in five innings in RVC-Rock softball on Thursday, May 14 at Brodhead.
Henning also pitched a one-hit shutout. Kinsley Krumwiede, Elise Rear, Pierce, and Salie Woelky each drove in two runs for the Cardinals. Henning hit a solo shot in the third inning and Pierce went yard in the fourth.
Brodhead 11, Edgerton 1
Mady Henning hit a two-run homer and allowed one run on four hits to lift the Brodhead Cardinals to an 11-1 win over the Edgerton Tiders in an RVC-Rock game on Friday, May 15.
Kinsley Krumwiede hit two doubles and drove in a run and Natalie Pierce hit an RBI triple to power the Cardinals.
Henning pitched five innings, did not walk a batter and recorded five strikeouts to get the win.
Brodhead improved to 16-4-1 overall and 10-4 in the RVC-Rock. The Cardinals were scheduled to play the Stoughton Vikings in a nonconference game on Tuesday, May 19.
Riverdale 12, Darlington 1
The Riverdale Chieftains scored four runs in three separate innings to race past the Darlington Redbirds 12-1 in SWAL softball on Thursday, May 14.
The Chieftains got four runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Redbirds got their lone run on an RBI single by Raynie Norgard in the third inning.
Darlington (4-13, 2-10) played at home against Cuba City in a SWAL conference game on Monday, May 18.
Argyle-Black Hawk 4, Benton-Shullsburg 3
The Argyle-Black Hawk Orioles scored two runs in the first inning and two runs in the second inning and survived eight errors to get a 4-3 win over Benton-Shullsburg in Six Rivers softball on Thursday, May 14.
Lexi Wonders hit a double and drove in two runs for the Orioles. Sam Kammes and Claire Holmes had RBI singles for Argyle-Black Hawk. Brynn Harris got the win pitching seven innings and gave up three runs, but no earned runs. Harris walked one and struck out eight.
River Ridge 6, Argyle-Black Hawk 5
A seventh inning rally by Argyle-Black Hawk fell just short as the River Ridge Timberwolves hung on to beat the Orioles 6-5 in Six Rivers softball at Argyle on Friday, May 15.
The Orioles had a 3-1 lead going into the fifth inning, but River Ridge scored two runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead.
The Orioles rallied in the seventh with the help of three consecutive errors by River Ridge to start the inning. Adrionna Ubersox drove in a run with a base hit to center and Emma Johnson scored on a ground out, but Alexis Tregembo popped out to end the game.
Argyle-Black Hawk (11-3, 9-9) was scheduled to play a Six Rivers game on Tuesday, May 19 at Juda-Albany.
Belmont 15, Pecatonica 2
An eight-run first inning and a six-run second inning was more than enough for the Belmont Braves to get a convincing 15-2 win over the Pecatonica Vikings in Six Rivers softball on Friday, May 15.
Lexi Riechers hit a home run and the Braves slammed six other extra-base hits to defeat the Vikings. Taylor Wahl hit a double and drove in a run.
Pecatonica (2-14, 2-11) hosted Benton-Shullsburg in Six Rivers action on Tuesday, May 19.
Juda-Albany 12, Highland 3
Jubany got four runs in the fifth inning and another four runs in the seventh inning to roll past the Highland Cardinals 12-3 in a Six Rivers game on Friday, May 15.
Ryleigh Brown led off the sixth inning with a solo home run and went the distance in the pitching circle allowing three runs, none earned, no walks and eight strikeouts.
Anna Bartels went 3x5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Aubrey McCullough, Lexi Eastwood, and Sophie Bolton also hit doubles for the Panthers.
Jubany (14-5-1, 12-5) hosted a nonconference game against Johnson Creek on Saturday, May 16.
Monticello-New Glarus 23, Benton-Shullsburg 5
Malorie Miller hit two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Monticello-New Glarus Ponies to a 23-5 win over Benton-Shullsburg in Six Rivers softball on Friday, May 15.
Heidi Olson also hit two doubles and had three RBIs while Rayna Vogel went 3x3 with two RBIs. Molly Olson got on base six times with two hits and four walks and scored four runs.
The Ponies got a 7-0 lead after three innings, then scored 16 runs over the final two innings.
Monticello-New Glarus (14-5, 12-4) was scheduled to host a nonconference game against Evansville on Monday, May 18.
Lakeside Lutheran 19, Belleville 3
The Lakeside Lutheran Warriors blasted their way past the Belleville Wildcats with a 14-run first inning to win 19-3 in Capitol South conference softball on Friday, May 15.
The Wildcats scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning. Leonor Ortigosacervantes, Brynlee Shirley, and Ava Chapman each drove in a run for the Wildcats.
Belleville (6-15) is scheduled to travel to Cuba City for a Division 4 regional semifinal game on Tuesday, May 26.
