From Don Foy
La Farge
To the Editor:
Our household recently received a mailer titled “Enough is Enough Homeownership should be affordable”. I won’t argue with that, but it went on to say that we should contact Senator Brad Pfaff to return [by himself?] a $2.5 billion surplus the state is sitting on. Well, $2.5 billion divided by 2.5 million — the number of households in Wisconsin — is $1,000. Is that going to help you buy a new house?
You may have noticed that many of our roads are in horrible shape. It doesn’t hurt to have something of a rainy-day fund, but much of that $2.5 billion should be spent on the services it was collected to provide. Fix the roads, among other things, like education, health care, protecting our water, and the environment in general!
This is like paying a kid to cut your lawn, and he only cuts half of it. Then later, he wants to give you some of that payment back so maybe you’ll think he’s a great kid and hire him again. That’s our Republican dominated legislature. That’s how they operate. They should get real, or be condemned to driving WI 82 between La Farge and Hillsboro forever.
