John A. Carson passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Monroe Hospice Home. He was born July 29, 1935. John graduated from Forest City Iowa High School, attended Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota and attained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.
John was a humble servant to his family, church, veterinary profession, community and fraternity. He was a member of the Brodhead United Methodist where he served on many committees; and after moving to Monroe, he joined the Monroe United Methodist Church. He was a member of several local, state, and national veterinary organizations. He served as a representative from the Rock Valley Veterinary Medical Association to the Wisconsin Veterinary Association. He served on the World Dairy Expo Ethics Committee. He served the Brodhead community and surrounding area as a veterinarian for 38 years before retiring. John was a life member of the National FFA Alumni Association. He received the Brodhead Jaycee Distinguished Service Award for his community services. He was a member of the Jaycees and a life member of the Brodhead Bicknell Masonic Lodge.
John enjoyed the out-of-doors, canoeing, and maintaining a prairie. He was happiest being in the woods whether it was making fire wood, hunting, or just relishing nature.
He is survived by the love of his life, Nita, his wife of 70 years; daughters, Cynthia (Linn) Lederman, Beth Voegeli (Dean Harding), Janet (James) Root, Jennifer (Chad) Morgan; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll (Janell) Carson; and sister-in-law, Mary Buman Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Esther (Johnson) Carson; and his brothers, David (wife Martha) and James.
