Lois F. Draney, age 101 of Monroe died Tuesday, May 19th at the New Glarus Nursing Home. She was born February 15, 1925, in Newark, Wisconsin, the second of twelve children born to Orson and Elma (Richards) Robertson. She married Harold Pickett in 1946 and had two sons. Lois later married Patrick Draney on October 14, 1958, in Miami, Oklahoma and spent 55 wonderful years together.

Lois was a graduate of Juda High School and attended the University of Beauty in Kansas City, Missouri. She owned and operated the Charmette Beauty Salon in Kansas City and Camdenton, Missouri for fourteen years. She then managed the Pembroke County Day and Sunset Hill School Bookstore for fourteen years in Kansas City.

After her retirement in 1984, Lois and Patrick spent a year traveling throughout Europe. They lived in Daytona Beach, Florida for seven years, and have resided in Monroe since 1992. She was an avid sports fan, and loved watching tennis, golf and football. She loved shuffleboard, golf, bowling and playing Euchre with the many friends that she adored. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America for over 50 years and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are her sons Dennis (Hollie) Pickett, William (Susan) Pickett; sisters Eva Penniston and Nancy (Lloyd) Gleason; granddaughter Amanda Pickett; grandsons Dennis (Misty) Pickett, William (Heather) Pickett, Jason (Erica) Pickett; great-granddaughters Kaleena Pickett, Taylor O’Leksy, Hadyn Field, Tessa Pickett, Teagan Pickett as well as five great-great-grandchildren.

Lois is also survived by her stepdaughters Susan (Greg) Harnden, Patricia (Don) Malotte, Pamela (Michael) Zanders, Cynthia Rogers; granddaughters Rachel Zanders, Elizabeth (Harley White) Zanders; grandsons Scott (Diadra) Harnden, Jay Harnden, Austin Malotte, Ben (Liz) Malotte, Tyler (Lindsay) Zanders, John Benton (Cheyan) Rogers; great-granddaughters Eloise Doucet, Agatha Doucet; great-grandsons Isaac Harnden, Seth Harnden, Blane Harnden, Nico Harnden, Connor Malotte, Spencer Malotte, Herman Zanders, Samuel Zanders.

She was preceded in death by her husband Patrick in August 2013, parents, siblings Janette Robertson, Charlotte Johnson, Burnette Robertson, Goldie Brugger, Chuck Robertson, (Orson) Junior Robertson, Merle Robertson, Mary Severson and Dorothy Provoast.

At Lois’ request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. We will hold a luncheon on Sunday, May 31st, 11a.m. – 1 p.m. at the American Legion in Monroe to celebrate her life and legacy. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

The family would like to thank the staff at the New Glarus Nursing Home and Aster Assisted Living for the excellent care they gave Lois in her later years. Newcomer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
