MONROE — An Albany man has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree criminal sexual assault for his actions related to a victim under 16 that he allegedly met on a social media platform popular with children.

The victim was a student at Belleville High School during the alleged abuse. The defendant, Connor W. Jones, is 22. He told investigators, according to a criminal complaint filed against him, that he thought the victim was 18. In fact, after the defendant and victim first met, he asked her to prove her age. Jones, however, reportedly said: “I didn’t believe she was 18. She looked way younger than that,” said the complaint.

“He allegedly asked (the victim) for ID. The (Investigator) asked if he meant her driver’s license and said that is what he meant,” said the complaint. “Connor said he tried grabbing (her) wallet and she got upset. Connor said that this was the first time they met.”

The alleged sexual abuse continued over a period from February to April of 2026.

“(Investigators) asked Connor how many times he had sexual intercourse with (the Victim) and he stated, ‘like ten’,” said the complaint. “Connor said the relationship ended after (the victim) said she was going to a friend’s house and he found she was with a guy that he knows.”

Jones’s next scheduled court date is for arraignment at 9:45 a.m. June 19 before Green County Circuit Judge Jane Bucher. Bond for Jones was set at $25,000 on April 28.

Second-degree sexual assault of a child is a Class C Felony in Wisconsin, punishable by a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. According to court records, Jones has no other criminal record, save for traffic violations.
