On July 29:
● At 6:06 p.m., Officers were called to a single vehicle, versus a sign post hit and run accident with no reported injuries in the 700 block of 21st Street. An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by Nicholas J. Garthwaite, 22, of Monroe, was southbound on State Highway 69, turned east onto 21st Street, lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway in the 700 block of 21st Street, and collided with a sign and post, causing damage. Garthwaite’s vehicle sustained functional damage. Garthwaite was cited for unnecessary acceleration, operating left of the center line, failure to maintain control of a vehicle, failure to notify law enforcement of an accident, and hit and run to property adjacent to a highway. Garthwaite was released pending a court appearance.
On July 30:
● At 2:29 p.m., Officers arrested Aidan J. Roesslein, 25, of Monroe, in the 100 block of County Highway N, on a warrant issued by the Green County Sheriff’s Office for Child Support. Roesslein was confined at the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.
● At 10:31 p.m., Officers arrested Demarion Clark, 21, of Freeport, IL, following a traffic offense stop in the 1100 block of State Highway 69. Clark was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st Offense, and was also cited for failure to obey red-light signal, possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and possession of tetrahyrdrocannabinols, (Delta 9 THC-Marijuana). Clark was later released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
On August 1:
● At 11:26 a.m., Officers were called to an electric scooter versus vehicle accident at the intersection of 9th Street and 16th Avenue with reported injuries. An investigation indicated an electric scooter operated by Gabriel A. Caballero Talavera, 37, of Monroe, was westbound on 9th Street and failed to stop for the red stop light at the intersection of 9th Street and 16th Avenue colliding with a southbound vehicle operated by an individual from Michigan. Caballero Talavera was cited for failure to stop at a red traffic signal. Caballero Talavera was transported to Monroe Clinic SSM Emergency Department by Green County EMS.
On August 3:
● At 12:01 a.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 1300 block of 15th Avenue for a report of a disturbance. After an investigation, Officers arrested Maria F. Acahua-Tepole, 27, of Monroe, for Disorderly Conduct, Battery, and Damage to Property; all Domestic Abuse related. Acahua-Tepole was held at the Green County Jail pending cash bond or initial appearance in court.
● At 2:52 p.m., Officers responded to the 400 block of 8th Street for a motor vehicle crash. Officer learned that a vehicle operated by Anna L. Bolton, 71, of Monroe pulled out of a business parking lot onto 8th Street and struck another vehicle traveling eastbound on 8th Street operated by a 47-year-old individual from Monroe. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, neither had airbag deployment, both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, and neither were injured in the crash. Bolton was cited for Failure to Yield to the Right-of-Way while Making a Left Turn, and she was released with a court date.
On August 4:
● At 10:49 a.m., Officers responded to the intersection of STH 69 and 8th Street for a two-vehicle crash. Officers learned Miles J. Higgins, 28 of Deerfield, was facing southbound and was stopped at the redlight behind another vehicle. Miles’ foot slipped off the brake pedal and he struck the vehicle in front of him, operated by a 78-year-old individual from Monroe. No one was injured, both were wearing seatbelts, there was no airbag deployment, and both vehicles sustained minor damage. Higgins was cited for Automobile Following Too Closely and was released with a court date.
On August 5:
● At 5:28 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the W5300 Block of STH 11 for Speeding. The driver was identified as Zackary T. Smith, 23, of Freeport, IL. During the stop Officers located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Zackary was issued citations for Speeding, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a criminal citation for Possession of Marijuana. Zackary was released from the scene with a court date.
