Richard J. Wyss Sr., age 99, of Monroe, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1927 in Monroe, the son of Theodore R. and Hulda R. Wyss. He married Margaret Anderegg on April 7, 1948. Together they farmed 23 years in Monroe and Juda. Dick owned and operated a Nutrena feed store for over ten years in South Wayne and after retirement he worked seasonally at Monroe Truck Equipment and Colony Brands until age 91. He greatly enjoyed golfing and playing cards with family and friends.
Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Margaret Wyss; sons, Jeffrey (Linda) Wyss and Richard Jr. (Jackie) Wyss; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Affolter; brother, Ted (Norbetta) Wyss; and sister, Nancy (Joe) Gjovik.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Private family inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will precede the service at the church on August 29th beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given the St. John’s Church.
