NEW GLARUS — The Bank of New Glarus is proud to celebrate the positive impact its Summer Reading Program donations have made across community libraries throughout southern Wisconsin. Each year, the Bank donates $500 to participating community libraries in support of their Summer Reading Initiative. The Initiative promotes youth literacy and learning during the summer months. The Bank of New Glarus representatives personally delivered donations to nine libraries, reinforcing the Bank’s long-standing commitment to literacy and community enrichment.
Donations were presented to the Belleville Public Library, Brodhead Memorial Public Library, Johnson Public Library in Darlington, McCoy Public Library/Gratiot Annex Library, Evansville’s Eager Free Public Library, Albany’s Albertson Memorial Library, New Glarus Public Library, Monroe Public Library, and Monticello Public Library.
“One of the most rewarding parts of this initiative is seeing firsthand how much these programs mean to our communities,” said Ron Schaaf, CEO/President of The Bank of New Glarus. “As a community bank, providing resources that strengthen education and foster lifelong learning is at the heart of what we do.”
At the McCoy Public Library/Gratiot Annex, the impact was especially significant. Library Director Jenny Detra shared that The Bank of New Glarus’ 2025 donation led to a substantial increase in Summer Reading Program participation.
“Because of The Bank of New Glarus’s donation, our summer reading program grew so much that the Library Board, the Gratiot Village Board, and the Gratiot Township Board approved additional space at the Gratiot Community Building to allow the library to expand,” said Detra.
The Eager Free Public Library in Evansville was newly added to the Bank’s donation list this year, aligning with the Bank’s plan to open a branch in the community this Fall.
Library Director Bronna Lehmann expressed the Library Board’s appreciation.
“When I announced The Bank of New Glarus’ donation to our Library Board, they were extremely impressed that the bank is already investing in our community — even before the branch is officially up and running.”
The Bank of New Glarus believes these stories demonstrate the true value of community banking; building relationships, supporting growth, and investing in the future of the communities it serves. As CEO/President, Ron Schaaf echoed, “At The Bank of New Glarus, being a community bank means showing up early, building relationships, and supporting the communities we serve. We are proud to support the Eager Free Public Library and look forward to growing alongside the Evansville community.”
