Luna Maya employees and Oscar Vigil, owner of Luna Maya.

Woodford State Bank held a Cash Mob at Luna Maya Mexican Restaurant in Monroe on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Owner, Oscar Vigil chose to donate over 10% of the proceeds for the day to the ADRC in the amount of $2,500. Woodford State Bank has been hosting Cash Mobs for businesses since 2018.

A Cash Mob is a way to help local businesses grow and keep communities thriving. Each month, Woodford State Bank chooses a local business to mob and that business gets to pick their favorite organization to donate a portion of the proceeds for the day. There is a “cash drop” designated at a certain time where money is given away to either spend at the business or donate to the organization. These “cash mobs” are promoted on social media. This supports the business, the organization, and the local community. The next Cash Mob will be at Glennie’s in Darlington on Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
