PORTAGE — Zane Seffrood went 3x4 at the plate and Marcus Ott struck out 10 batters to lift the Monroe Cheesemakers to an 8-2 win over the Portage Warriors in nonconference baseball on Monday May 11.
Seffrood had a double and drove in two runs and Ott pitched 6.1 innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits. Eli Schaefer was 3x4 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored for the Cheesemakers. Ian Berg was 2x4 and drove in three runs. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Cheesemakers.
Monroe 6, East Troy 5
Gage Jelle scored on Sawyer Meier’s double to tie the game and Blake Geisler’s base hit scored Tyler Briggs with the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Monroe Cheesemakers a 6-5 win over the East Troy Trojans in Rock Valley conference, Rock Division baseball on Tuesday May 12.
The Cheesemakers trailed 5-4 to begin the 8th inning before rallying with two runs to win it.
Briggs got on base three times with a hit and two walks and stole three bases.
The Cheesemakers sent the game into extra innings at 4-4 with a run in the bottom of the 7th inning on the first of two doubles by Swayer Meier and an RBI single by Eli Schaefer.
Monroe (5-13-1) played East Troy again in RVC-Rock action at East Troy on Thursday May 14 and hosted Platteville in a nonconference game on Friday May 15.
Waterloo 16, Belleville 4
The Waterloo Pirates erupted for nine runs in the 6th inning to power their way past the Belleville Wildcats 16-4 in a Capitol South conference game on Tuesday May 12 at Belleville.
The Pirates got 13 hits but were helped by seven errors on the Wildcats which led to eight unearned runs.
Belleville got just three hits, one each by Dawson Smith, Owen Griffin, and Randy Raven. Smith got on base three times with the help of two walks and scored two runs.
Belleville (7-10, 1-6) played another Capitol South conference game against Waterloo on the road on Friday May 15.
Cambridge 10, New Glarus 8
The 6th inning was a deciding point in a Capitol Conference game between the New Glarus Glarner Knights and the Cambridge Blue Jays on Tuesday May 12. The game was tied 6-6 and the Blue Jays scored four runs while the Knights scored two. That was the difference in the Blue Jays’ 10-8 win over the Glarner Knights.
Matthew Roth and Nolan Julseth each hit a double and Kaleb Weber and Landon Stelter both drove in two runs to lead the Glarner Knights.
New Glarus fell to 8-6 overall with the loss. The Glarner Knights (4-3 Capitol South) and the Blue Jays played again in a conference game on Friday May 15.
Darlington 12, Boscobel 2
Dante Gledenning, Grady O’Brien, and Parker Mosely each hit a double and Glendenning pitched four solid innings allowing two runs on one hit to lead the Darlington Redbirds past the Boscobel Bulldogs 12-2 in six innings in a SWAL conference game on Tuesday May 12.
Mosely went 2x4 and drove in three runs for the Redbirds while Glendenning gave up one earned run and struck out six batters. The big inning for the Redbirds was the 3rd when they scored six runs to turn a 3-0 lead into a 9-0 lead.
Darlington (6-6, 4-6) hosted conference leader Mineral Point on Friday May 15.
Belmont 11, Monticello-Albany 0
The Belmont Braves ripped the Monticello-Albany Space Stallions 11-0 in Six Rivers conference baseball action on Tuesday May 12.
Tanner Hilliard got the only hit for the Space Stallions.
The Braves racked up eight runs in the 4th inning and came up with 10 hits in the game.
Monticello-Albany dropped to 2-15 overall and 2-10 in the Six Rivers conference. The Space Stallions traveled to Benton to take on Benton-Shullsburg om a Six Rivers conference game on Friday May 15.
Argyle-Black Hawk 12, Highland 2
The Argyle-Black Hawk Warbirds got their first win of the season by beating the Highland Cardinals 12-2 in six innings on Tuesday May 12 in Six Rivers conference action.
The game was tied 1-1 after one inning, but the Warbirds dominated the rest of the way, scoring four runs in the 2nd inning and five runs in the 6th.
Mitchell Johnsen led the Warbirds with his pitching and his hitting. Johnsen allowed two runs on two hits and, at the plate, he went 4x4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Jackson Berget hit a double and scored two runs. Ole Isely drove in two runs and scored a run for the Warbirds.
Argyle-Black Hawk (1-15, 1-13) had a Six Rivers conference home game on Friday May 15 against River Ridge.
Mineral Point 12, Belleville 5
The Mineral Point Pointers got an early 7-0 lead and rolled to a 12-5 win over the Belleville Wildcats in nonconference baseball on Monday May 11.
The Pointers scored two runs in the 1st inning, one run in the 2nd inning, and four runs in the 3rd inning before the Wildcats got on the board.
Evan Edge went 3x4 with four RBIs to lead the Wildcats. Rayden Taylor had a double and an RBI for Belleville.
Belleville dropped to 7-10 with the loss and hosted Waterloo in Capitol South conference action on Tuesday May 12 Potosi-Cassville 7, Argyle-Black Hawk 1
The Argyle-Black Hawk Warbirds got the first run of the game in the 1st inning, but Potosi-Cassville did all the scoring after that in beating the Warbirds 7-1 in Six Rivers conference baseball on Monday May 11.
Jackson Berget scored the only run of the game for Argyle-Black Hawk on an RBI triple by Cole Dunlavey in the 1st inning. Dunlavey had two of the Warbirds’ four hits in the game.
Argyle-Black Hawk (0-15) hosted Highland in a Six Rivers conference game on Tuesday May 12.
Barneveld 11, Monticello-Albany 1
The Barneveld Golden Eagles put up seven runs in the 2nd inning to roll past the Monticello-Albany Space Stallions 11-1 in five innings in a Six Rivers conference game on Monday May 11.
The Space Stallions got their only run in the 3rd inning when Cayden Marti walked and later scored on a bases-loaded walk by Tyler Patchen.
Monticello-Albany (2-14) hosted the Belmont Braves in Six Rivers conference action on Tuesday May 12.
River Ridge 9, Pecatonica 1
The River Ridge Timberwolves broke open a tight game with five runs in the 5th inning to take a 9-1 win over the Pecatonica Vikings in Six Rivers conference action on Monday May 11.
It was a 2-0 game before the Timberwolves scored five runs on two hits, four walks, and an error in the 5th inning.
Kashton Gross scored the Vikings only run in the 6th inning on a bases-loaded walk by Marty Anderson.
Pecatonica (8-7, 7-5) hosted the Barneveld Golden Eagles in Six Rivers conference baseball on Tuesday May 12.
Edgerton 15, Brodhead-Juda 3
Edgerton scored in every inning they batted and stung the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals 15-3 in five innings in Rock Valley conference, Rock Division baseball on Tuesday May 12.
The Crimson Tide got two runs in the 1st, five runs in the 2nd, and four runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings to invoke the 10-run rule.
The Cardinals were held to just six singles. Chase Bauman and Manny Bueno drove in runs for the Cardinals.
Brodhead-Juda (5-13, 4-8 RVC-Rock) played Edgerton again, this time at Brodhead in an RVC-Rock Conference game on Thursday May 14 before a nonconference game at Dodgeville on Friday May 15.
Mineral Point 9, Brodhead-Juda 2
Mineral Point 7, Brodhead-Juda 6
The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals were swept in a doubleheader by the Mineral Point Pointers 9-2 and 7-6 in nonconference action on Saturday May 9.
In the first game, the Pointers got a 4-0 lead, then the Pointers got five runs over the final two innings to hand the Cardinals their fourth straight loss. Manny Bueno had two hits and Sam Searls drove in a run for the Cardinals.
In the second game, the Cardinals out-hit the Pointers, 13-9, but Mineral Point scored three runs in the 3rd inning and four runs in the 6th inning to turn back the Cardinals. Brodhead-Juda pulled to within 7-6 with two outs in the 7th inning when Braylon Strehlow scored on a balk, but Mineral Point pitcher Adam Cody got Dylan Ross to pop out to end the game.
Will Searls went 3x4 with an RBI and a run scored. Sam Searls scored two runs for the Cardinals.
