Parks & Rec seeks volunteers for July 4th Celebration

The Monroe July 4 celebration plans are well underway with the Parks and Recreation Department.

The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will hold our Annual July 4th Celebration in Twining Park on Saturday, July 4.

● Slow pitch Tournament begins 8 a.m.

● Fire truck there for kids to sit in

● Tot Lot Singers at 9:45 a.m.

● Pickleball tournament at Northeast Park begins 10 a.m.

● NEW Inflatable Obstacle Courses 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

● Carnival games will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

● Kiwanis pony rides from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

● Lion’s Club petting zoo 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

● KTs Facepainting 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

● NEW Twining Park Beer Garden 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

● “Silence the Sirens” concert at the Bandshell 12 p.m.-2 p.m.

● City Band concert 7:30 p.m.

● Fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The Parks and Recreation Department is still looking for volunteers to help out in the carnival. Free July 4th t-shirts for all volunteers.

For Carnival games, shifts are 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and noon to 2:15 p.m. Children volunteers should be accompanied by an adult to work at the Carnival games. Those willing to volunteer at any of these shifts should contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 608-329-2465.

The City of Monroe Fireworks will be shot off at approximately 9:30 p.m. and will conclude with UMB Sky Concert fireworks display. This is UMB;s 35th year sponsoring the event. Thanks to a donation for the fireworks, Colony Brands is also a Gold Sponsor.
