Black Hawk schools superintendent Willy Chambers is leaving the district after 29 years. Chambers has accepted the superintendent position with the Royall School District. His last day will be June 30.
“We as a board want to wish Mr. Chambers the best wishes at Royall District,” said Dee Paulson, Black Hawk school board president. “We also would like to thank him for the tenure here at Black Hawk.”
Paulson said an interim superintendent will be hired for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027). The hiring process for a permanent superintendent will begin this upcoming December.
Chambers also held the role of Director of Special Education. Paulson said the interim hire would not include Director of Pupil Service.
