Last week, H. James and Sons Construction worked on final preparations for curb and gutter on 31st Avenue from 13th Street to 11th Street. Initial work on 10th Street between 30th Avenue and 29th Avenue has also started for the installation of the new sidewalk.
This week, according to City of Monroe Director of Public Works Al Gerber, H. James will continue with final preparations for the sidewalk on 10th Street from 29th Avenue to 31st Avenue, as well as preparing for the installation of the curb and gutter and sidewalk on 31st Avenue from 13th Street to 8 1/2 Street. The concrete crew is anticipated to start placement of curb and gutter and sidewalk the week of June 22.
In the Richland Heights subdivision, crews completed the installation of the storm sewer and road base on the new section of Cheesemaker Drive (6 1/2 Street) from 6th Street to 32nd Avenue. On Monday, June 15, Schultz Concrete placed approximately 4200 l.f. of concrete curb and gutter to complete the curb and gutter installation on Cheesemaker drive from 6th Street to 8 1/2 Street at the new Monroe High School.
This week Carrousel Excavating will complete the road base placement ahead of paving operations, which are projected to occur in the next two weeks.
The utility companies are scheduled to finish relocating the gas lines and telephone lines in the intersection of 13th Street ahead of the new intersection project this week. The road work at the 13th Street intersection project is scheduled to start June 29 with the first phase of the project. This first phase is primarily in the SE corner of the new intersection and will keep traffic flowing in all directions until the start of the second phase.
