Parkview-Albany hosts Trailways, takes second

ORFORDVILLE — After winning the regular season Trailways South Conference title, the Vikings hosted the Trailways Conference tournament on Saturday, Feb. 4. Parkview-Albany took second (214) to Trailways North champion Markesan (234.5)

The Vikings had four individual conference champions Slater Valley (106), Evan Suer (138), Wyatt Egan (195) and Wesley Egan (220).

Valley needed to defeat just one opponent, as he received byes all the way to the championship. He then pinned Ruben Bach as time expired in the first period. Suer advanced to the second round with a bye before pinning his next two opponents. In the championship, he edged Tait Glassmaker 5-1. After a first-round bye, Wyatt Egan advanced to the championship with two pins. With 12 seconds left in the second period, he pinned Joseph LaRoche for the title. Wesley Egan, too, received a first-round bye followed by a pin. In the semifinals, he defeated Alexzander Larson 8-4. Wesley Egan then earned the title with a pin of Ethan Rowe.


BADGER CONFERENCE

MILTON — The Cheesemakers finished ninth (116) of 15 teams in the Badger. 

Monroe did not have a champion, but Isaac Bunker (285) was named runner-up. After a first-round bye, Bunker pinned his way to the championship against familiar foe Griffin Empey of Stoughton. The two faced off at the La Crosse Bi-State tournament on Friday, Dec. 30, where Bunker pinned Empey in 56 seconds. This time around, Empey pinned Bunker with eight seconds left in the first period.


CAPITOL CONFERENCE

WATERLOO — The regular season champion Sugar River took second (212.5) to Lodi (357.5) in the Capitol Conference on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Blake Endres (113) was the lone champion for the Raiders. After two byes, he won by tech fall in both his matches — 20-4 in the semifinal against Brady Ebert and 17-2 in the championship against Drew Lochner.

Brennan Keyes (132) and Eli Leonard (152) were named runners-up.


SWC/SWAL CLASH

RICHLAND CENTER — The War Birds finished eighth (113) of 13 teams on Saturday, Feb. 4. 

Darlington-Black Hawk did not have an individual champion. Its highest finishers were Owen Seffrood (138), Maddox Goebel (160), Ross Crist (182) and Bryan Lazaro (285) who all took fourth.


ROCK VALLEY CONFERENCE

CLINTON — Brodhead-Juda finished sixth (113) of nine teams in the Rock Valley Conference meet on Saturday, Feb. 4. 

The Cardinals were led by Marcus McIntyre (145) and Joe Lohmar (138) as individual conference champions. 

Lohmar won his first match by pin before defeating Wyatt Nelson 10-1 in the semifinals. Lohmar then edged Justin Teague in extra time 4-2 for the title. McIntyre, too, advanced to the semifinals with a pin. He won his next two matches by major decision — 13-0 over Max Kaether in the semifinals and 17-3 over Nathan Pozzani in the championship. 


SCENIC RIDGE AND RIVERS CONFERENCE

NEW LISBON — Pecatonica-Argyle finished fourth (100) of 11 teams on Saturday, Feb. 4. 

The Vikings crowned three individual champions in Aidan Gruenenfelder (106), Lukas Orloff (113) and Sammy Nelson (138).

Gruenenfelder received a first-round bye before defeating his next two opponents by tech fall — 20-5 over Parker Misna in the semifinal and Jaren Grimseld in the championship. In both of Orloff’s matches, he pinned his opponents in the first period — the quickest in 46 seconds. Nelson wrestled in three matches, his first lasting just 30 seconds. He pinned his second opponent, too, in 1:20 before defeating Jackson Bender 9-2 in the championship.
