Cheesemakers win RVC-Valley meet at Whitewater

WHITEWATER — Both the Monroe Cheesemakers track teams won the Rock Valley-Valley Divisional track meet at Whitewater on Tuesday May 5.

The Cheesemaker boys won the meet with 197 points and the Cheesemaker girls won with 151 points.

In the boys meet, senior Jy’Shon Broitzman took first place in the 100 meter dash in 11.55 seconds and the 400 meter dash in 51.14 seconds. Junior Kamrin Gerber-Reamer was second in the 400 (51.94). Senior Noah Spotts was first in the 200 (23.21). In the 800 meter run, junior Lukas Gerber finished in first place (2:07.08). Sophomore Landon Smith was second (2:07.44).

Monroe took the top three spots in the 1,600 as senior Tre Dammen was first (4:36.11), freshman Ace Rossing was second (4:44.00), and sophomore Weston Huntsman was third (4:44.81). Dammen also won the 3,200 (10:58.87). Senior Brady Keehn was second (10:59.28).

Monroe dominated in the hurdles. Senior Will Keehn took second (15.99), and Killian Wild placed third (16.41) in the 110-meter high hurdles. Will Keehn also got first place in the 300 meter hurdles (41.80). Wild was second (42.62) and senior Frank Wolf fourth (43.52).

Monroe’s relay teams won all four of the relay events. The Cheesemakers took the 4x100 with sophomore Riley Blum, senior Mekhi Brown, senior Bradley Holst, and junior Ryan Roelli timed at 45.31 seconds. In the 4x200, Blum, Brown, Holst, and Roelli ran a 1:34.28. The 4x400 meter relay team of junior Lukas Gerber, freshman Jacob Martin, junior Eli Phillips, and Gerber-Reamer finished at 3:37.65. The 4x800 team of Huntsman, junior Elijah Cook, Smith, and Rossing topped the field in 8:53.27.

The field events saw Frank Wolf win the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 10 inches. Eli Phillips placed second in the long jump (19 feet-7.25). In the triple jump, Wolf and Wild went one-two as Wolf jumped 40-1.25 and Wild 38-5.

Monroe also went one-two in the discus throw as senior Waylon Yoder finished first (155-1) and sophomore Tristan Anderson second (143-11).

In the shot put, Monroe performed a trifecta with Yoder taking first (56-0), senior Peyton Herbst second (47-11) and sophomore Joah Wellman third (46-8).

The girls results found freshman Micki Andrews taking second place in the 100 (13.42). In the 200, senior Miley Hanson was third (27.81) nd senior Mya Wild fourth (28.01). Wild won the 400 (1:02.54). In the 800, sophomore Alivia Mosher was fourth (2:35.07) and freshman Elizabeth Veeder fifth (2:43.29).

The 1,600 was won by junior Navaeh Huenefeld in (5:33.70). The 3,200 meter run was dominated by the Cheesemakers as the top three spots were claimed by sophomore Victoria Wolf (12:08.15), Huenefeld (12:22.53) and sophomore Kaylen Cassidy (12:33.32). Senior Brooke Bunker was first in the 100 meter hurdles (17.30) and in the 300 meter hurdles (52.55).

Monroe took first place in two of the four relays. The 4x100 team of sophomore Althea Sweeney, freshman Maya Eddy, senior Alexis Elgin, and freshman Micki Andrews were second (54.09). The 4x400 team of junior Lyla Ritschard, Wild, Mosher, and Veeder were first (4:19.52), as was the 4x800 quartet of Cassidy, freshman Ally Miller, Mosher, and Wolf (11:24.02).

The Cheesemakers got the top two spots in the high jump with junior Braylee Friedrich (4-10) first and Hanson (4-8) second. Hanson placed third in the long jump (15-7), while Sweeney was fourth (14-6.75). In the triple jump, Hanson placed second (33-5.25) and Friedrich was third (31-5.5).

The Cheesemakers got third and fourth place in the pole vault thanks to senior Anna Zentner (third, 8-0) and freshman Alexa Altmann (fourth, 7-6). Freshman Mallory Palleson had the best discus throw for Monroe (78-2), which was good for fourth place. In the shot put, Micki Andrews was first (34-8). Palleson was second (30-8).

Brodhead-Juda at RVC-Rock Meet

BRODHEAD — The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals took second place in both the boys and girls track meets at the Rock Valley-Rock Division meet on Tuesday May 5 at Brodhead. The boys team had 180 points behind Turner with 190 points and the girls had 163.5 points behind Big Foot/Williams Bay with 183 points.

The Brodhead-Juda boys dominated the 100 meter dash with junior Grayson Arn (11.21 seconds), junior Cohen Henze (11.58), and senior Tegan Pinnow (11.78) taking the top three spots. In the 200 meter dash, Arn was first (23.23) and Henze was third (23.85). Senior Mavrik Plummer finished in second place in the 400 meter dash (51.58) and in fourth place in the 800 meter run (2:11.67). Plummer also placed second in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:48.24.

Senior Franco Ramirez got second place in the 110 meter hurdles (17.48) and senior Nolan Bump got first place in the 300 meter hurdles (41.11).

The Cardinals placed first in two of the four relays and third in the other two. The 4x100 relay team won with a time of 44.41 seconds and the 4x400 relay team finished first in 3:38.32. The 4x200 meter relay team (1:38.67) and the 4x800 (9:19.78) each finished third.

Senior Tegan Pinnow finished third in the long jump (20-4.75). Senior Simon Moore won the pole vault (13-0).

Sophomore Xavier Duncan took fourth in the discus (128-11), and senior Jordan Dix was fifth (127-0). Dix was sixth in the shot put (41-4) and Duncan was seventh (40-6.5).

On the girls side, freshman Gracie Hefty was fourth in the 100 meter dash (13.71) with freshman Ella Olson fifth (13.85). Hefty also placed third in the 200 (28.76).

Brodhead-Juda had a fourth and fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash with freshman Montana Restivo (fourth, 1:06.74) and freshman Hayden Lewis-Usher (fifth, 1:08.28). The 800 meter run featured a back-to-back-to-back finish at 4-5-6 for junior Ciarrah Condon (2:46.00), junior Avalynn Plummer (2:51.17), and senior Danica Demrow (2:53.72). Sophomore Rachel Hatter took fifth place in the 1,600 meter run (6:22.96) and fourth place in the 3,200 (13:55.21).

Junior Elliana Shank was second in the 100 hurdles (16.19) and second in the 300 hurdles (50.56). Junior Chesney Walker came in third in the 100 hurdles (18.06) and junior Emberly Ast finished fourth in the 300 hurdles (56.26).

In the relay events, the Cardinals were second in the 4x100 (52.52 seconds), first in the 4x200 (1:56.02), second in the 4x400 (4:34.24) and second in the 4x800 (11:27.75). Elliana Shank took home first place in the long jump (17-5). Hefty finished in fifth place in the high jump (4-8). Shank was the top finisher for the Cardinals in the pole vault, placing fourth (8-0) while junior Lillian Sievers was fifth (7-6).

Senior Annelise Bethke got second place in the discus (107-8) and junior Lily Scheidegger was fifth in the shot put (28-7).
