Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield awarded a new contract to offer Medicaid managed long-term services and support in Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE — Starting this month, Wisconsinites who participate in the state’s Family Care Medicaid program now have Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) as a new option for their long term care support in Geographic Service Regions (GSR) 2 and 7.

Through the Family Care program, Anthem will provide access to long-term services that help maximize independence for older adults and people with disabilities who need support due to physical, cognitive, developmental, or chronic health conditions and functional limitations.

“Anthem is honored to expand our partnership with the state to serve more Wisconsinites through the Family Care program,” said Ted Osthelder, Anthem Wisconsin Medicaid plan president. “With the expertise of our parent company and our team of talented local associates, Anthem is positioned to provide compassionate, person-centered care to Family Care members in western Wisconsin and Milwaukee County. We are committed to partnering with providers, stakeholders and members to build systems that create fulfilling and healthier lives for our members.”

GSR 7 includes Milwaukee County and GSR 2 includes Buffalo, Clark, Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Lafayette, Monroe, Pepin, Richland, Sauk, Trempealeau and Vernon counties.

As a participating Managed Care entity serving Medicaid populations in Wisconsin for more than 20 years, Anthem currently serves more than 120,000 Medicaid members statewide through the Badger Care Plus and Medicaid SSI programs. Anthem’s local delivery model reinvests in communities to reduce gaps in care, address chronic health conditions, enhance independent living, and promote wellness.
