MUSCODA — Dante Glendenning threw a complete game no-hitter to lead the Darlington Redbirds to a 3-2 win over the Riverdale Chieftains in SWAL baseball at Muscoda on Thursday, May 21.

Glendenning backed up his no-no with a double and scored a run in the second inning on a wild pitch. The Redbirds took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Zeke Zuberbuhler scored on a single by Calum Crist. Darlington scored in the top of the fifth when Mason Wiegel walked and later scored on a base hit by Zuberbuhler.

Riverdale got unearned runs in the fourth and seventh innings as a result of four errors by Darlington.

Glendenning threw 97 pitches with 61 for strikes while walking two batters and striking out seven.

Darlington (7-9, 5-9 SWAL) is a No. 13 seed in the WIAA Division 3 playoffs and travels to No. 4 seed Iowa-Grant for a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28.

Delavan-Darien 5, Monroe 2

BELOIT — The Monroe Cheesemakers were hoping to avenge an 11-1 loss to the Delavan-Darien Comets on May 19, but the Comets put up three runs in the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and beat the Cheesemakers 5-2 on Thursday, May 21 in an RVC game played at ABC Supply Stadium in Beloit.

Marcus Ott pitched a solid six innings giving up just two runs on three hits. Ott walked three and struck out five. Zane Seffrood went 2x3 and drove in both runs for Monroe. The Cheesemakers just couldn’t come up with a big base hit and generated six singles.

Trent Wyss scored Monroe’s first run in the first inning on Seffrood’s RBI single to right. Monroe’s second run came in the sixth when Eli Schaefer reached on a bunt and advanced to second on a base hit by Ott. Seffrood singled to center to score Schaefer.

Monroe (6-16-1, 4-10 RVC-Valley) is a No. 11 seed in the WIAA Division 2 playoffs and will travel to take on the No. 6 seeded Edgewood Crusaders in a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28 at Ziggy Park in DeForest.

Clinton 7, Brodhead-Juda 6

A 6-4 lead slipped away from the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals as the Clinton Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the Cardinals 7-6 in Rock Valley baseball on Thursday, May 21 in the final game of the regular season.

Third baseman Maddux Liptow of Clinton hit a bases-loaded walk-off triple to score the tying and winning runs for the Cougars.

The Cardinals had a great start to the game by scoring five runs in the first inning. Clinton responded with four runs in the bottom half of the first inning, but Brodhead-Juda added another run in the third inning for a 6-4 lead.

Dylan Ross went 3x4 with a double and two RBIs to pace the Cardinals. Will Searls was 2x4 and drove in a run for Brodhead-Juda.

The Cardinals (7-16, 5-10 RVC-Rock) are a No. 14 seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Lodi for a Division 2 regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28.

New Glarus 14, Belleville 2

Brock Roth went 3x4 with an RBI and scored four runs and Matthew Roth was 2x3 and also scored four runs to lift the New Glarus Glarner Knights to a 14-2 rout of the Belleville Wildcats in a Capitol South game to close the regular season on Thursday, May 21.

Ethan Colstad pitched six innings and allowed Belleville just two runs on four hits. Colstad walked four and struck out 10.

Marcus Hebgen and Randy Raven each hit a double for Belleville.

New Glarus 12, Poynette 4

NEW GLARUS — Ashlin Mihlbauer had a day he won’t soon forget as he helped the New Glarus Glarner Knights roll over the Poynette Pumas 12-4 in Capitol South action on Friday, May 22.

The senior catcher went 4x4 with five RBIs and scored a run as the Glarner Knights got their third straight win. Shortstop Nolan Julseth hit a double and scored three runs while Ethan Colstad, Matthew Roth, and Kaleb Weber each hit a double.

Liam Crawford pitched four innings and surrendered four runs on seven hits with three walks and one strikeout. Kamm Nehmer pitched three innings and allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out four.

New Glarus (11-8, 7-4 Capitol South) was to play Evansville in a nonconference game on Tuesday, May 26 at New Glarus. After that, the playoffs begin with New Glarus (No. seed) hosting 11-seed Belleville (8-13, 2-7) on Thursday, May 28 in a regional quarterfinal.

Shullsburg-Benton 6, Argyle-Black Hawk 2

Pitchers Blake Lawrence and Brayden Kilcoyne of Shullsburg-Benton held Argyle-Black Hawk scoreless until the sixth inning as Shullsburg-Benton defeated the Warbirds 6-2 in Six Rivers action at Argyle on Thursday, May 21.

Trent Bidlingmaier, Max Soper, and Jackson Berget got the only hits in the game for ABH. The Warbirds got their only runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Argyle-Black Hawk (1-17, 1-15 Six Rivers) are a No. 12 seed for the WIAA Division 4 playoffs and face No. 5 seed Kenosha Christian Life on the road in a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28.

River Ridge 10, Monticello-Albany 1

The Monticello-Albany Space Stallions closed their regular season with a 10-1 loss to the River Ridge Timberwolves in a Six Rivers conference game at Bloomington on Thursday, May 21.

The Space Stallions were only able to carve out two hits, one by Tyler Constantini and the other by Ty Durtschi in the game.

Monticello-Albany (5-17) played a nonconference game at home against Iowa-Grant on Tuesday, May 26, then opened WIAA Division 5 playoff action with the Space Stallions (No. 6 seed) taking on Fall River (No. 11 seed) at Albany in a regional quarterfinal on Thursday, May 28.

Pecatonica 8, Potosi-Cassville 4

POTOSI — Senor Ashton McNett got two hits in three at-bats and drove in three runs as the Pecatonica Vikings got an 8-4 win over Potosi-Cassville in Six Rivers action on Friday, May 22.

Sophomore Reed Cassidy went 3x3, drove in a run, and scored two runs while junior Marty Anderson went 1x3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Sophomore Reid Schlimgen pitched six innings and allowed just two earned runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Pecatonica (12-8, 9-6 Six Rivers) is a No. 3 seed in the WIAA Division 4 playoffs and have a bye for the first round. The Vikings will face the winner of the May 28 regional quarterfinal between Monticello-Albany and Fall River on Tuesday, June 2.
