NEW GLARUS — Thanks to business and community donations, New Glarus was able to unveil its brand-new Glarner Community Complex for the first home football game of the season on Aug. 23. The facility includes an artificial turf field, eight-lane track, storage building, press box and bleachers. But not all goals are complete. Another $1.6 is needed for a concession stand, bathrooms, plaza, pavilion and parking lot.
New Glarus Youth Softball and Baseball, represented by Damian Mimetz, kicked off Phase 2 of fundraising during halftime of the Sugar River soccer game Sept. 26 with a $10,000 check for the project.
Other community donations are still being accepted. Donations can be made online at https://fundraising.pobinc.com/new-glarus/, by mailing a check to the New Glarus School District, or via cash. The fundraising committee has also applied for federal and state grants.
