MONROE — At the regular School District of Monroe Board of Education meeting April 27 at the Bauer Education Center, the school board proudly approved a generous sponsorship commitment from the Steiner Family in support of the Agricultural Classroom at the new Monroe High School. This $10,000 contribution, to be provided over a 10-year period, will directly enhance one of the district’s most impactful and community-connected programs.
The Agricultural Education Program at Monroe High School plays a vital role in preparing students for a wide range of careers in agriculture, agribusiness, environmental science, and skilled trades. Through hands-on learning experiences, FFA involvement, and real-world applications, students develop technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the agricultural systems that are foundational to the Monroe community and regional economy.
The Steiner Family brings a long and distinguished history of farming in the Monroe area, making their investment in agricultural education both meaningful and deeply rooted in local tradition. Their support will help ensure that students have access to modern learning environments, updated resources, and expanded opportunities within the Ag Program.
“This sponsorship represents more than a financial contribution — it is a powerful investment in our students and in the future of agriculture in our community,” said Joe Monroe, Superintendent of the School District of Monroe. “The Steiner Family’s legacy in farming and their commitment to education make this partnership especially significant. We are incredibly grateful for their support of a program that provides such meaningful opportunities for our students.”
The district also extended a special thank you to Amy Steiner for her enthusiastic support and coordination of the sponsorship, Supt. Monroe said. Her leadership and advocacy were instrumental in bringing this partnership to fruition.
“The School District of Monroe looks forward to the lasting impact this sponsorship will have on students, the Agricultural Education Program, and the broader community for years to come,” Supt. Monroe added.
The school board also received an update on the new high school construction project, with the district taking over temporary occupancy happening this week and June 18 set as full occupancy date.
Also at the meeting, new board members Caleb Ahrens and Melissa Phillips, along with re-elected Teri Montgomery, took their oaths of office. The board also divvied up officer positions. Jim Curran will remain as president, Teresa Keehn as vice president, Phil Vosberg as treasurer and Montgomery as deputy Clerk. Nicole Josephs is the new clerk and CESA 2 liaison. Ahrens will be the EIE liaison for the board.
