MONROE — Across the state, April 16 marked the first day candidates for state offices like Assembly and Senate could begin gathering signatures to appear on the August ballot.

The 17th Senate District has four known candidates trying to reach the minimum number of signatures — incumbent Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) and Democratic challengers Corrine Hendrickson, Lisa White and Rep. Jenna Jacobson.

Assembly District 50, currently being served by Jacobson, has Democrats Josh Mittness and Bill Oemichen, as well as Republican Jon Aleckson entered into the race.

Assembly District 51 incumbent is Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville), with Democrat Ben Gruber seeking to gain the seat.
