Cheesemakers no match for Oregon

OREGON - The Monroe High School boys tennis team lost 7-0 to Oregon on Tuesday for their eighth straight dual match defeat.

"Not one of our best duals of the season," Monroe coach Ashley Hermanson said. "Oregon got off to quick leads and we couldn't overcome the deficits."

Oregon's Calvin Schneider defeated Monroe junior Silas Setterstrom in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Oregon's Charles Donovan at No. 2 singles beat Monroe junior Ryan Peterson 6-1, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, the Panthers' Sam Schaeffer knocked off Monroe sophomore Quinn Sulejmani 6-0, 6-1. Oregon's Sam Bychowski at No. 4 singles beat the Cheesemakers' Ben Dombkowski 6-0, 6-0.

The Panthers' No. 1 doubles team of Spencer Krebsbach and Logan Piper defeated the Cheesemakers' duo of junior Kody Althaus and senior Tanner Purdy 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Oregon's Kyle Rehrauer and Sam Ast defeated Monroe's Brett Lyne and Zeke Frankford 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 doubles, Zak Roskos and Jacob Ayers beat the Cheesemakers' Andrew Johnson and Scott Foley 6-1, 6-0.

Monroe (0-8, 0-3 Badger South) will host Portage on Thursday.
