V. Duane McDonough went home to be with the Lord he loved and served so faithfully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at SSM Hospice Home in Monroe, Wisconsin.  He was born on June 26, 1942 in Osgood, Ripley County, Indiana to Vincent and Freda (Van Volkenburg) McDonough.  Duane attended grade school and later graduated from high school in Arizona.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Arizona State University and earned his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois in 1969.

Duane’s passion in life was to help people know God through faith in Jesus Christ.  He pastored several congregations in Arizona, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Illinois.  He especially enjoyed teaching bible studies and working with youth.  He also liked to ride motorcycles, visit libraries and book stores, traveling, golfing, and playing cards with friends. 

On July 1, 2001, he married Barbara Boss at Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown, WI. 

He is survived by his wife, Barb of Cedarville, IL; his five children, Ray (Judelyn) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly (Brad) Puff of Redmond, WA, Mark (Reesa) McDonough of Tolleson, AZ, Matt McDonough of Tolleson, AZ, and Jenny (Kevin) Welsh of Chubbuck, ID; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Grace Free Methodist Church, 205 Main St., McConnell, IL 61050, at 11:30 Am with Pastor Ryan Klein officiating.  Burial will follow at Kelly Franklin Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
