Shirley J. Schindler, age 77, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of Marvin and Elsie (Johnson) Wild on June 2, 1945. She graduated from Juda High School in 1963. Shirley married John Schindler on August 15, 1970 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. She worked at the Monroe Clinic Hospital as a dietitian, Parkside School where she worked with special needs children, and The Monroe Times.
Shirley was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years and participated in Parish Visitors. She was also involved in the Monroe Women’s Guild especially the Christmas Stocking. She also volunteered with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. During her lifetime she was faithful blood donor, having donated over one gallon. Shirley enjoyed knitting, gardening, bird watching, and earlier in life she loved to dance. She was also known for her delicious baked goods. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, she shared many special bonds with her niece and nephews.
Shirley is survived by her children, Michael (Christina) Schindler and James (Miranda) Schindler both of Monroe; grandchildren, Bryce Messerli, Whitney Wells, Kylie Merchant, Emilee Schindler, and Dylan Schindler; sisters, Susan (George) Abrams and Sally Boss both of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2023 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tiff Bates officiating. A private family burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.

Shirley was known for sharing her love with everyone she met. Thank you mom.
