June R. Gruenberg, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at First Choice Assisted Living.  She was born on June 3, 1930 the daughter of Walter and Rose (Baertschi) Thoman.  June attended Purcell Country Grade School in Rural Monticello.  On June 26, 1948 June married Paul Gruenberg in Monticello.  June farmed with her husband for many years.  After retiring from the farm June cleaned at the Gasthaus Motel.  She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir.  June was also a former member of Women of the Moose, Garden Club, several card clubs, and snowmobile club.  She enjoyed sewing and traveling with her husband, on fishing trips to Canada and traveling from Mexico to Alaska, and Germany to Switzerland.

June is survived by her sisters, Glorianne Rufenacht and Linda Klemm both of Monroe; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Thoman of Monticello, and Alan (Shirley) Thoman of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter-in-law, Joan Gruenberg of Monroe; grandson, Paul Gruenberg of Monroe; sister-in-law, Gloria Thoman of Monroe; and nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; children, Ronald Gruenberg, and Marilyn Gruenberg; sister, Pauliene (Earnest) Krahenbuhl; brother, Marvin Thoman and Donald (Marie) Thoman; and brother-in-law, Robert Ruffenacht. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
