DARLINGTON — Storms tore through Lafayette County on Aug. 10, blowing over a semi truck and downing trees and power lines.

The accident involving the semi happened at about 1:20 p.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.

Erik R. Bojack, 45, Dunlap, Iowa, was southbound when wind overturned his 2019 International truck and 2017 Hyundai trailer. He was taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The Platteville and Belmont fire departments and Southwest Health EMS assisted deputies on scene.

The same afternoon, downed power lines causing traffic hazards were reported on County Shop Road, Town of Darlington; on County M, Town of Wiota; and on Komprood Road, Town of Gratiot.

Power lines in a tree were also reported on County M, Town of Wiota. Also in the Town of Wiota, on Whiteside Road, a deputy responded for a traffic hazard of a tree in the road.

At about 6:45 p.m., the South Wayne Fire Department and a deputy responded to East Center Street in South Wayne for power lines sparking.
