ARGYLE — The Wisconsin Farmers Union, South Central Chapter, will meet from 5-7:30 on June 23 at Plowshares & Prairie Farm, 5532 County Road G in Argyle.
The event is titled, “Agriculture and Rural Resilience are Vital to Meeting our Water and Climate Challenges.” Speakers include Scott Leaser, Clean Water Wisconsin; Joe Bonnell, UW Extension Natural Resources Institute; and Michael Tiboris, River Alliance of Wisconsin.
According to the Wisconsin Farmers Union, Water has been an important topic across Wisconsin for many years but legislative efforts to protect and clean-up water resources have been limited. Climate change will only exacerbate water challenges and efforts to address them, but working in concert to address climate change and protect water resources can and must diversify and strengthen rural communities and agricultural systems.
The meeting is open to all. A farm tour will take place from 5-5:30 p.m. to see the innovative ways host Scott Leaser has put his knowledge to work on his farm. Social time will be from 5:30-6 p.m. Panel discussion from 6-7 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
