Burlie K. Johnson, age 86, of New Glarus died on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on December 11, 1921 in York Township, the son of Sever J. Johnson and Andrina (Peterson) Johnson. Burlie attended Meadow View Rural School and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1940. He was confirmed at Old York Lutheran Church on November 8, 1936. On February 4, 1945 he was united in marriage to Madeline Draeger by the Rev. William Hartwig of Montello. Burlie farmed in the Town of Primrose for 47 years. He was a member of Primrose Lutheran Church rural Belleville.

He is survived by his son Donald B. (Marlene) Johnson of Belleville, WI; daughters Karon K. (LaVerne) Quam of Madison, WI and Carol A. (Kenneth) Zimmerman of Monticello, WI; three grandchildren David Quam, Matthew Zimmerman, and Angela Zimmerman; a great-grandson Alexander Zimmerman; brothers Ernest Johnson of Verona, WI and Knute (Esther) Johnson of Rice Lake, WI, Amos Johnson of Cottage Grove, WI; a sister-in-law Leona Johnson of Mount Horeb, WI, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Amy Zimmerman in 1975, brothers; Lloyd, Robert, Hans, and Bernard, sisters; Daisy Hegland, Hilda Jeglum, and Lula Tank.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Primrose Lutheran Church, 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI with Pastor Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the Old York Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.

A memorial fund has been established.
