PECATONICA, Ill. — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Captain Joseph Blanchette, has announced District 16 enforcement figures and activity for the month of August. 

Illinois State Police District 16 Troopers issued 500 total citations and 594 written warnings during the month of August. Speed violations accounted for 184 citations. Seventy-nine citations were issued for occupant restraint violations and 41 enforcement documents were issued for distracted driving violations.  

Troopers investigated 28 traffic crashes and assisted 61 motorists. One hundred sixty-eight commercial motor vehicle inspections were completed with 24 drivers and/or vehicles being placed out of service.  

Troopers made 5 arrests for driving under the influence and 22 criminal arrests. Four enforcement documents were issued for Scott’s Law violations.  

District 16, which encompasses Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, and Boone Counties, had 2 traffic fatalities in August.
