MONROE — Bountiful Hope Farms, a local nonprofit garden located on Rufenacht Road in Monroe, has just celebrated its tenth year of producing food for those with food insecurity in southwest Wisconsin. After 8,000 pounds of vegetables were donated this season, the total weight gifted to local food pantries in all those years of growing has now reached 76,800 pounds.
Bountiful Hope Farms was founded in 2009 by Monroe residents Gary and Melissa Burch, and has been a family project and dedicated passion ever since. Their determination to supply fresh, chemical-free food to those facing food insecurity and hunger has been the driving force behind the nonprofit’s mission and their other community endeavors.
On top of founding Bountiful Hope and gardening each season, Gary and Melissa have renovated and donated the space where the Monroe Food Pantry currently resides. In 2020 the Burch family hopes to transform their homegrown project into a larger community-supported organization that can live on to serve the needs of Monroe for years to come. While working together with the mission to end hunger, we can feed healthy and fresh produce to families.
