Albany Historical Society Program for Sept. 17
Community Brief

ALBANY — Join the Albany Historical Society and Rock County’s Historic Breweries, Bars, and Saloons (RCHBBS) for a presentation on 30 artifacts recovered from Janesville’s North Side Brewery.

Established in 1857, the brewery was operated by John and Michael Boub (1857-1882), Louis F. Knipp (1882-1903), and Frank and William Croak (1903-1937) until competition from the Milwaukee breweries forced the brewery into bankruptcy. This interactive presentation will take guests to back in time to learn about life in the late 1800s and early 1900s with information on early Croak Settlement near Albany.

The program will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Albertson Memorial Public Library, 200 North Water Street, Albany. Any questions call or text 608-214-8289.
