MONROE - The Monroe girls basketball team received a No. 7 seed in the its half of the WIAA Division 2 Sun Prairie Sectional.
The Cheesemakers (10-10) will host No. 10 seed Portage (10-11) on Tuesday, March 8. The winner will go on to play at second-seeded Madison Edgewood (15-6) on March 11 in the second round.
The regional final will be at 7 p.m. on March 12 in Baraboo.
In Division 3, Brodhead (14-7) received a No. 2 seed and a first round bye in the Waunakee Sectional.
The Cardinals will host the winner of Parkview (9-12) and Big Foot (5-17) on March 11, with the regional final slated to be held in Clinton on March 12.
Darlington (17-4), a No. 3 seed, will host Mineral Point (8-11) in the opening round of the Division 4 Baraboo Sectional. Should Darlington win, the Redbirds would play the winner of Iowa-Grant (6-14) and Lancaster (16-4). The regional final will be at 7 p.m. March 12 in Brodhead.
On the opposite side of the Baraboo Sectional, New Glarus (8-12) picked up the No. 4 seed and a home game against Pardeeville (11-10). A win would put the Glarner Knights on the road at top-seeded Belleville (17-3) for the rights to play for the regional final in DeForest.
Last year's state runner up Black Hawk picked up the No. 1 seed and the only bye in the first round of its half of the of the Division 5 Watertown Sectional.
The Warriors (21-0) will play the winner of Monticello (6-11) and Albany (11-9). Juda (16-5) will host Pecatonica (3-18) and Argyle (3-18) will travel to Barneveld (13-7). The regional final is scheduled for March 12 at Evansville.
