MCFARLAND - Gabriel Prochazka and Dietrick Schwoerer each scored three goals to lead McFarland to a 9-1 nonconference win over the Monroe boys hockey co-op on Tuesday.

Prochazka scored the first goal on a power-play on an assist from Tyler Johnson. Johnson also added two goals for the Spartans. McFarland scored five goals in the first period and rolled from there.

Cade Martin scored the lone goal for the Avalanche at the 14-minute, 13-second mark in the third period.

"We played well the first half of the first period, but we were skating out of position too much and we got tired too quickly," Monroe coach Josh Smith said. "It hurt missing Tyler Johnson and Evan Byrnes and it showed. We started playing much better in the second and third periods. Now we have a long weekend to rest up and heal."

Monroe (1-15) will host Oregon at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at SLICE.
