MONROE — The Edgerton Crimson Tide shut out the Monroe Cheesemakers 4-0 in Rock Valley conference soccer at the T.R. Holyoke pitch on Tuesday, May 19.
The Cheesemakers suffered their third straight shutout loss and have been struggling on offense as of late. Monroe has scored only one goal in their last five matches. The one goal scored by the Cheesemakers was in a 1-1 tie with East Troy on May 7.
Monroe (1-5-1, 1-8-1) hosted Beloit Memorial in a nonconference match at T.R. Holyoke Pitch on Thursday, May 21.
Sugar River 8, Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld 0
MAZOMANIE — Junior Kate Parman scored three goals and added two assists as the Sugar River Raiders blasted past Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld 8-0 in Capitol Conference soccer on Tuesday, May 19. It’s the fourth shutout in the last five matches for Sugar River.
The first half saw the Raiders jump out to a 4-0 halftime lead. Junior Holly Maynard scored a goal at 9:34 on an assist by Parman and a 1-0 Sugar River lead. The Raiders made it 2-0 when Parman scored a goal on an assist by senior Josie Emond at 15:30. Parman got her second goal at 22:44 with an assist by senior Bailey McGuire to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead. It became 4-0 when freshman Libby Iserloth found the back of the net at 29:33 on an assist by freshman Maya Crennel.
The Raiders kept scoring in the second half as senior Toria Devoe got a goal at 54:01 with senior Cora Funseth and Parman on the assist and a 5-0 lead. Parman struck for her third goal, which was unassisted, at 67:06 to put Sugar River comfortably in front 6-0. Junior Ellie Brenkman made the score 7-0 with an unassisted goal at 74:56, then scored again at 78:44 on senior Piper Faber’s assist to close the scoring at 8-0.
Senior Savanah Minter played 51 minutes at goalkeeper and had one save. Freshman Greer Coppernoll had one save in 23 minutes at goalkeeper.
The Raiders (12-4-1, 6-1 Capitol) closed out conference play in second place behind Lake Mills (7-0). It is the first time since 2016 that Sugar River did not win a Capitol Conference title.
Sugar River traveled to Delavan-Darien for a nonconference match on Thursday, May 21.
