NEW GLARUS — New Glarus Public Library invites community members to celebrate the opening of its new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 4. The event will take place at the new library, located at 26 5th Avenue having been designed by OPN Architects and built by CG Schmidt. Parking will be available on nearby streets and in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot.

Prior to the ceremony, the public is invited to participate in a ceremonial book pass beginning at 4 p.m. Community members will form a human chain to help move books from the former library to the new library (Participants in the book pass will meet at the Village Park gazebo at 4 p.m. for instructions).

The ceremony will mark the completion of a major community project that will provide expanded services, updated resources, and welcoming new spaces for residents of all ages, including reliable high-speed internet, cutting-edge digital technology, an outdoor reading garden, and inclusive rooms for learning. Artwork commissioned for the new building will be on display throughout the library at this event.

Construction of the new library began in June 2025 and is expected to open fully to the public in June of 2026.
