Three girls basketball players were selected for Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association first-team all-state honors for this past season.
In Division 4, New Glarus sophomore Lindsey Schadewalt was picked to the first team, averaging nearly 20 points per game and helping lead her team to the sectional finals for the first time in 20 years.
Six Rivers East co-players of the year were also both first-team all-state picks in Division 5. Albany senior Brianna Dahl broke the program record in scoring and led her team to its first conference title in 20 years, as well as to the sectional final for the second straight season. The Comets lost to eventual state champion Randolph. Grace Ganshert, an Argyle senior, put up double-doubles on a nearly every-game basis this winter. After helping lead the program to its first-ever regional championship, Ganshert scored her 1,000th career point in the final game of her career: A sectional semifinal loss to Dahl and Albany.
Also in Division 4, Brodhead junior forward Abbie Dix was picked as an honorable mention all-state player. Dix led her team in scoring and topped the 1,000-point career threshold. With the help of Dix, the Cardinals went unbeaten in the tough Rock Valley Conference.
Belleville senior Callie Smith was also an honorable mention all-state selection. The forward was a double-double machine all season for the Wildcats, as Belleville split the Capitol South title with New Glarus and Cambridge.
In Division 5, Black Hawk junior Tara Wellnitz was picked as honorable mention all-conference. She led the Warriors in scoring and rebounding, as Black Hawk won a share of its sixth-straight Six Rivers East title, despite opening the season as underdogs to do so.
