NEW GLARUS — AC Strok’s free throw with four seconds left lifted New Glarus over Dodgeville 58-57 in a nonconference game on Tuesday, January 31. The Dodgers nearly overcame an eight-point deficit at halftime, but their seventh team foul proved to be the difference, as it sent Strok to the line for bonus.
Strok finished with 15 points, going 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Max Parman led the Knights, though, with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Breckyn Thompson also drained three shots from beyond the arc for all nine of his points. The other three 3-pointers came from Ethan Friedrich (six points) and Brett Warrell (three points). The remaining offense came from Max Marty (two points), Jake Roth (four points) and Lawrence Vasquez (two points).
BRODHEAD 66, EAST TROY 61
EAST TROY — Cullen Walker rained threes in the Cardinals Rock Valley Conference upset over the Trojans on Tuesday, Jan. 31. With the win, Brodhead knocked East Troy down to 6-6 in conference while picking up its third RVC victory.
Walker scored 15 of his team-leading 17 points from beyond the arc, with the other two at the charity stripe. Sam Searls made the remaining three in his six-point total. The Cardinals also shot well from the free-throw line, cashing in on 20 opportunities. Jaxon Dooley went 9-for-13 from the charity stripe for 15 points, while Aidyn Vondra shot made six of 11 for 12 points. Brodhead also received contributions from Gabe Bockhop (five points), Brody Riese (six points) and Nathan Engen (seven points).
PECATONICA 45, BLACK HAWK 30
SOUTH WAYNE — Coy Ruegsegger did damage in the post, as the Vikings put a game between them and the Warriors on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
“We couldn’t handle their big guy in the post,” Black Hawk head coach Trent Wyssbrod said. “He had good post moves and scored the ball with ease. Our help-side D was just a step late on stealing the post-entry pass.”
Ruegsegger scored 18 points, going 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Tyler McKeon was the next highest scorer with eight points, followed by Evan Dochnal with seven. Jameson Johnson chipped in six points, while Elijah Knutson made the only three for Pecatonica. The remaining offense came from Connor Sass (two points) and Glenn Jayne (one point).
The Vikings have four of the top-five scorers in the conference in Johnson (13 ppg), McKeon (12 ppg), Ruegsegger (11.3 ppg) and Dochnal (10.5 ppg).
On the other side, Seth Dunlavey led the Warriors with 10 points. Andrew Figi and Carter Baumgartner tallied eight points each, while Trae Hagen scored four points with a pair of free throws.
MONTICELLO 71, JUDA 45
JUDA — The Ponies opened the game on a 12-0 run that, paired with 42 second-half points, propelled Monticello past Juda in a Six Rivers East Conference matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Ryer Indergand, who leads the conference with 17.1 ppg, scored a season-high 31 points. Alex Roe trailed with 18 points, while Jackson Eyler recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points with a team-leading 12 rebounds. Austin Skibbe also contributed on the boards with 10 rebounds.
Jayden Brown led the Panthers with five rebounds and 11 points — nine of which came in the second half. Braydon Steinmann chipped in eight points, while Blake Adkins, Erik Woodward and Aiden Schadewalt tallied six points each.
BARNEVELD 64, ALBANY 28
BARNEVELD — The Eagles doubled up the Comets in each half en route to a Six Rivers East Conference win on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Barneveld remains undefeated at the top of the conference.
James Schwartz led Albany in both scoring and rebounds with eight points and four boards. Drew Sertle tallied six points — all of which came from beyond the arc. The remaining 3-pointers came from Brayden Bakken (three points) and Kaden Zurfluh (five points). The remaining offense came from Nate Stokstad, who scored the Comets’ only points from the charity stripe.
Argyle suffered two losses to start its week — 73-46 to Lancaster and 85-63 to Benton.
