DARLINGTON — Senior Grady O’Brien’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Darlington Redbirds a 3-2 win over the Boscobel Bulldogs in SWAL baseball on Thursday, April 16.
The rally erased a 2-1 deficit Darlington faced entering the bottom of the seventh and made a winner of Mason Wiegel, who pitched two scoreless innings in relief of starting pitcher Dante Glendenning. Glendenning tossed five innings and allowed just two runs (one earned), two hits, three walks, and struck out six.
Catcher Peyton Dempsey went 2x3 and scored a run while Glendenning was 1x3 with an RBI. Dempsey also stole four bases and scored the game-winning run on O’Brien’s double for the Redbirds.
Darlington (2-2, 1-2) traveled to Mineral Point for a SWAL game scheduled on Monday, April 20.
Pecatonica 12, Monticello-Argyle 2
BLANCHARDVILLE — Sophomore Linden Ula went 2x2 and drove in three runs and the Pecatonica Vikings got started with an eight-run first inning to breeze past the Monticello-Albany Space Stallions 12-2 in five innings in Six Rivers baseball on Thursday, April 16.
Marty Anderson, Austin Enloe, Ashton McNett, Cooper Schraepfer and Kale Hendrickson each had an RBI as the Vikings racked up 12 hits off the Space Stallions.
Reid Schlimgen and Enloe combined to hold Monticello-Albany to one earned run on five hits. Schlimgen walked two and struck out six while Enloe picked up three strikeouts for the Vikings.
Tyler Constantini went 3x3 with a run scored for the Space Stallions.
Pecatonica (2-1, 2-0) was scheduled to play a home game on Monday, April 20 against River Ridge followed by a road game at Barneveld on Tuesday, April 21 in Six River Conference action.
Monticello-Albany had a home game scheduled against Barneveld on April 20 and another game on Tuesday, April 21 at Belmont. Both are Six Rivers Conference contests.
