FREEPORT — The Environmental Study Group offers the final in a series of lectures on the cost of living with climate change. The speakers will provide data-driven information about the effects of climate change in Northwest Illinois and what federal, state, and community leaders and organizations are doing to address or prepare for climate change in our country, state, and region. It will be held at the Freeport Public Library, located at 100 E Douglas Street in Freeport in partnership with the Northwest Illinois Trails Foundation, the University of Illinois Extension, the Northwest Illinois Bird and Nature Alliance, Illinois Sierra Club, and the City of Freeport.
Dr. Jessica Rudnick, Climate Resilience Specialist, has 10 years of experience in applied research, extension and community outreach around community resilience, environmental decision-making and governance, and participatory and equitable models for climate adaptation and land use planning. She has worked on topics including agriculture, water quality, water supply management, ecosystem restoration, and pollution cleanup.
Rob Boyer, Freeport City Manager, leads a dedicated team overseeing city operations, infrastructure, and community well-being. He holds a Master of Public Administration and a BS in Organizational and Professional Development.
Randi Kohlbauer is the Environmental, Health and Safety, and Operations Coordinator for the City of Freeport.
The series is free and open to the public. Each session will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a lecture and time for questions and discussion on the topics presented. Refreshments will be provided.
