PLATTEVILLE — The Monroe Cheesemakers had a great day at the WIAA Division 2 track and field regionals in Platteville on Tuesday May 26 as both the boys and girls teams won the regionals.
The boys finished with 156 points while Brodhead-Juda was 3rd with 96 points. New Glarus was 7th with 51 points.
The Monroe girls had 136.66 points, Brodhead-Juda was 3rd with 83.16 points, and New Glarus was 6th with 73.33 points.
In the boys events, junior Grayson Arn of Brodhead-Juda was 2nd in the 100 meter dash in 11.07 seconds. Arn also placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash (22.96 seconds). Senior Mavrik Plummer of Brodhead-Juda won the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.73 seconds and the 800 meter run (2:00.52).
Senior Tre Dammen of Monroe was the winner of the 1600 meter run in 4:31.55. Dammen placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run by getting a time of 10:20.60. Sophomore Killian Wild of Monroe came in 2nd place in the 110 meter hurdles (16.36 seconds) while senior Nolan Bump of Brodhead-Juda took 2nd place in the 300 meter hurdles (41.30 seconds).
The Brodhead-Juda Cardinals won the 4x100 meter relay. Their relay team of Arn, junior Cohen Henze, senior Tegan Pinnow, and Bump recorded a time of 43.02 seconds. The Monroe Cheesemakers took 2nd place (43.58) with senior Jy’Shon Broitzman, sophomore Riley Blum, senior Mekhi Brown, and senior Noah Spotts. After that, the Cheesemakers swept the rest of the relay races. They captured the 4x200 with sophomore Riley Blum, senior Jy’Shon Broitzman, senior Mekhi Brown, and senior Noah Spotts (1:29.40), the 4x400 with Broitzman, junior Kamrin Gerber-Reamer, junior Eli Phillips, and Spotts (3:25.17), and the 4x800 with Elijah Cook, junior Lukas Gerber, Phillips, and sophomore Landon Smith (8:11.46).
Senior Tegan Pinnow of Brodhead-Juda was the top area finisher in the high jump as he placed 8th with a high jump of five feet, 10 inches. Senior Simon Moore of Brodhead-Juda got 2nd place in the pole vault (12 feet) while Brayden Schmitt of New Glarus was 3rd (11-3). Pinnow took 6th place in the long jump (19-10.5) while Monroe senior Frank Wolf won the triple jump with a jump of 43 feet, 4.5 inches.
A couple of familiar names could be found at the top of the shot put as junior Brent Weeden of New Glarus won the shot put (62 feet, 5.5 inches) and senior Waylon Yoder was 2nd (54-10.5). Yoder won the discus throw with a toss of 167 feet, three inches.
In the girls track meet, sophomore Vivian Lancaster of New Glarus placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash (12.96 seconds). Freshman Micki Andrews was 2nd in the 200 meter dash (27.79 seconds). In the 400 meter dash, junior Lyla Ritschard took 1st place with a time of 1:04.64. The 800 meter run saw sophomore Alivia Mosher of Monroe get 4th place (2:27.89) and freshman Elizabeth Veeder get 5th place (2:36.62).
Sophomore Victoria Wolf of Monroe was 5th (5:28.69) and junior Navaeh Huenefeld of Monroe was 6th (5:44.68) in the 1600 meter run. Wolf was also the winner of the 3200 meter run in 12:04.62.
Junior Elliana Shank took 1st place in the 100 meter hurdles (15.93 seconds) while junior Marie Besley of New Glarus was 2nd (16.06 seconds). Shank got 3rd place in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 50.70 seconds.
New Glarus placed 2nd in the 4x100 meter relay with senior Gracie Atkinson, Besley, junior Kalia Malaise, and Lancaster producing a time of 50.51 seconds. The Glarner Knights also placed 2nd in the 4x200 with Atkinson, Malaise, Besley, and Lancaster clocked at 1:47.69. Monroe got 3rd place with Andrews, senior Aniyah Jackson-Bey, senior Mya Wild, and senior Miley Hanson getting a time of 1:48.04.
The Cheesemakers won the 4x400 with Wild, Jackson-Bey, Mosher, and Hanson crossing the finish line in 4:12.95. The Cheese also won the 4x800 with Wild, Ritschard, Mosher, and Hanson in 9:50.04.
Junior Braylee Friedrich of Monroe got 4th place in the high jump (four feet, eight inches) and Annabelle Curl of New Glarus was 5th (four feet, six inches). The girls pole vault was won by senior Anna Zentner of Monroe with a pole vault of nine feet. Senior Gretchen Kammerer of Brodhead-Juda was 4th at eight feet.
Elliana Shank of Brodhead-Juda finished in 2nd place in the long jump (16-9.5) and Gracie Atkinson of New Glarus was 3rd (16-2). Atkinson got 2nd place in the triple jump (35 feet) and Miley Hanson of Monroe was 3rd (34-1.25).
Micki Andrews of Monroe placed 2nd in the shot put (36-8) and junior Reese Speth of New Glarus was 5th (32-10.5). Speth got 2nd place in the discus with a throw that sailed 108 feet, three inches.

HAZEL GREEN — The WIAA Division 3 girls and boys track regionals took place at Southwestern High School in Hazel Green on Tuesday May 26.

In the boys meet, junior Calum Crist of Darlington was 3rd in the 100 meter dash in 11.88 seconds. Junior Zeke Zuberbuhler of Darlington was 2nd in the 200 meter dash in 22.64 seconds. Senior Spencer Hay-Skattum of Black Hawk took 2nd place in the 400 meter dash (54.37 seconds), and junior Marcus Kendall was 2nd in the 800 meter run (2:08.48). In the 1600 meter run junior Adrian Scott of Belleville placed 4th (5:17.36) and in the 3200 meter run senior Kaleb Broughton of Albany was 3rd (10:57.69) and sophomore Kamden Broughton of Albany was 4th (11.25.67).
Senior Shane Wand of Black Hawk won both the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.99 seconds and the 300 meter hurdles in 42.31 seconds.
The Darlington Redbirds started out the relay races with a victory in the 4x100 with junior Payton Dempsey, sophomore Ryder Fitzsimons, Calum Crist, and Zeke Zuberbuhler winning in 44.69 seconds. The 4x200 had Darlington taking 2nd place with Dempsey, Fitzsimons, Crist, and Zuberbuhler timed at 1:33.25. Darlington was 2nd in the 4x400 (3:42.44) with the relay team of junior Mason Wiegel, freshman Parker Smith, senior Kane McDermott, and junior Marcus Kendall. The Albany Comets claimed the 4x800 with junior Noah Lisser, senior Beckett Wachholz, senior Kaleb Broughton, and sophomore Brooks Wachholz completing the relay in 8:48.91.
Parker Smith of Darlington won the high jump (5-10) while Noah Lisser of Albany was 2nd (5-10). Sophomore Mikey Helfvogt of Argyle-Pecatonica was 3rd (5-10). Sophomore Ethan Kaetterhenry of Belleville placed 4th in the pole vault at 10 feet.
Junior Artemio Rico of Darlington won the long jump (19 feet, 4.25 inches). In the triple jump, senior Kamron Parker took 2nd place (39-7). Junior Broderick Gobel of Belleville was 2nd in the shot put (44-8.5) while sophomore Aiden Mosley of Black Hawk got 3rd place (43-6). Junior Gage Ruf of Darlington finished in 2nd place in the discus with a throw of 133 feet, 10 inches.
In the girls competition, junior Emily Curran of Black Hawk took 4th place in the 100 meter dash in 13.54 seconds. Freshman Braxtyn Ayers of Belleville was 2nd in the 200 meter dash in 28.25 seconds. Senior Mya Milz of Black Hawk was 2nd in the 400 meter dash (1:03.20). The 800 meter run was won by freshman Alaina McGowan of Darlington in 2:24.08. In the1600 meter run, senior Adalee Berget of Darlington got 2nd place in 5:33.47. In the 3200 meter run, 6th place went to Mirielle Smith Monticello with a time of 14:40.28.
The finals of the 100 meter hurdles had senior Loretta Tisch of Argyle-Pecatonica getting 2nd place in 16.96 seconds. Tisch won the 300 meter hurdles with her time at 49.63 seconds.
The Belleville Wildcats were the winners of the 4x100 meter relay with a team consisting of Braxtyn Ayers, junior Zoey Pfile, junior Molly Shares, and junior Leyna Westphal winning the relay in 53.32 seconds. Darlington won the 4x200 with freshman Bella Ortega, freshman Brenna Edgerton, sophomore Sarina Ford, and senior Catie Hartwig achieving a time of 1:58.51. Darlington also won the 4x400 as junior Madison Welacha, Adalee Berget, junior Brianna Vazquez, and McGowan got a time of 4:11.74. The 4x800 was also won by Darlington with Welacha, McGowan, Vazquez, and Berget timed at 10:06. 98.
Senior Kennadee Johnson of Monticello won the high jump at four feet, 11 inches. Welacha of Darlington placed 3rd in the pole vault eight feet, six inches. Braxton Ayers of Belleville took 2nd place in the long jump (15-2.25) while junior Brooke Wellnitz of Argyle-Pecatonica was 3rd (14-11.50) and junior Aleah Harris of Argyle-Pecatonica was 4th (14-11). Sophomore Makayla Curran of Black Hawk earned 3rd place in the triple jump (32 feet, 3.25 inches).
The shot put was where senior Taylor Stegall placed 2nd with a toss of 30 feet, 11.25 inches and junior Brooke Wellnitz of Argyle-Pecatonica was 3rd (30-10.50). Darlington fared well in the discus throw as Hartwig placed 2nd (103-2) and sophomore Rella Meylor was 3rd (93-8).
